The Daylights: “I Hope This Gets To You” Goes Viral
It’s a cute video. Just a week ago, I saw The Daylights open for Needtobreathe in Atlanta. Rumor has it that a year before, these guys were just hanging out in Los Angeles not sure if they wanted to continue with the band. And just like that, someone came up with a creative concept, threw it up on YouTube, let social media ignite, and POOF! You’re on the map with almost 620,000 views in less than a week.
Although the shelf life can’t be long for premeditated viral explosion methods, The Daylights are rolling the dice. Viral videos made YouTube sensations, OK GO famous and again recently with Atomic Tom‘s “Take Me Out,” hammering another nail in the coffin of radio airplay as a viable medium.
The Daylights are a really good band live and in the studio. Exploding with an epic full sound of polished radio-friendly pop and strong vocals, this band has legs. Unfortunately, they run the risk of being deemed sell-outs by rising too quick.
