How To Easily Become a Musician without Any Skill Or Talent
I’ve always wanted to be a rock star….or even a digital music star. I’m assuming that looking out to legions of adoring fans from the stage is quite intoxicating. But alas…I have no musical skill or talent and this experience remains elusive.
I come from a quasi-musical family. My mother studied her voice in Europe after high school and sings opera (read: this was a NIGHTMARE as a kid). As a young lady, I took voice, piano, and flute lessons. To my mother’s chagrin, all I retained from those formative years are a few piano bars of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” (I know, awesome) and a lot of my mom’s hopes and cash wasted.
If only my childhood years had the convenient short cuts of learning music that we have today! Giving music theory the middle finger, let’s take the Wii video game sensation, Guitar Hero as an example. LOOK at this kid! Only a few buttons and POOF! Instant rock star…and lookin’ damn good, too! BTW, I NEED a pair of those shades. No guitar strings or understanding chords necessary. Just buttons on your plastic “axe” and follow-along colored buttons on a TV to help you make your rock dreams come true. Hey, whatever it takes to help your confidence???
In keeping with my rock dreams, I stumbled on this site that I think is FAN-TASTIC! www.inudge.net. iNudge is a free online music-sequencing widget and it. is. awesome. The digital checkerboard reminds me of Tetris…and Tetris rules. Check out this article about it’s features.
I know my mom would be so proud…I finally made my own song:
